Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay recently had the honor of hosting United States Representative Zoe Lofgren, Santa Cruz County Supervisor Felipe Hernandez, and Watsonville Mayor Maria Orozco at our ReStore in Watsonville. Their presence and support underscore the power of our incredible community and the shared commitment to addressing affordable housing challenges.
Habitat for Humanity's ReStores, proudly owned and operated by local Habitat affiliates, are essential to our mission. Every dollar generated through ReStore sales directly supports building homes and improving communities.
At Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay ReStores, we are fortunate to receive donations from across the Monterey Bay Area, reflecting the region’s rich diversity. These donations help support local builders, craftsmen, and DIY enthusiasts in their projects while promoting sustainability by diverting thousands of tons of reusable goods from landfills each year. This eco-friendly approach plays a crucial part in supporting our affordable housing initiatives.
Catherine Stihler, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay, expressed her gratitude for the visit: "We are truly honored to have local leaders join us today. Their support brings vital attention to the pressing need for affordable housing in our communities. Through these partnerships, we are not only building homes but also building stronger, more sustainable communities that benefit everyone."
Through collaborative efforts and community involvement, we are working toward a future where safe, affordable housing is within reach for all. Thank you to United States Representative Lofgren, Supervisor Hernandez, Mayor Orozco, and all who continue to support our mission. Together, we are building a brighter future for the Central Coast.
