Eleven excited volunteers came out on Friday, Sept. 22 to swing hammers, paint interior walls, and work on the framing for new homes for future Habitat Homeowners. None had any prior construction experience but seemed quite at home, even using power tools by the middle of the day. Working alongside our professional construction crew, they gained confidence and left the day feeling accomplished.
This volunteer day was part of a Wells Fargo initiative called Welcome Home, whereby Wells Fargo employees across the country work with local charities to make an impact in the company foundation’s funding priority, housing affordability. Throughout September, Wells Fargo employees participated in volunteer events like this across the country.
Through the 2023 Wells Fargo Builds program, the company is providing $7.5 million in grant funding to Habitat for Humanity International to support new home construction, renovation, or repair of more than 360 projected affordable homes in more than 230 communities across the U.S.
We are proud to thank Wells Fargo, as Habitat Monterey Bay was one of the chosen affiliates to receive funding. Thank you for your support and for the incredible team who joined us on Friday!
